Sometimes we have shit days.

Sometimes we have shit days. The other day was one of those for me. You know the drill … wake up with a thumper of a headache for no apparent reason. And then be inundated with various crap throughout the day. It’s bound to happen, even to the most joyful, positive and sprightly of us.

And it always make me giggle a little, when I see people painting their lives as this “picture perfect” illusion, when in reality, we’re all one and interconnected. We have our ups. We have our downs. Yes, some more than others. But I’m sure you catch my drift. Life happens. Continue reading

How to Create Happy, Healthy, and Intimate Relationships

2014-05-01 19.00.32
Whilst I’m certainly far from perfect, and can’t claim to be an expert on relationships, I’ve had my fair share of them and talked to enough people to reach my own point-of-view about what it takes to maintain a healthy and happy relationship.

It has always baffled me, however, the number of relationships that I see that are abusive, disrespectful and disempowering. It seems that more often than not, people would prefer to stay in a not-so-good relationship, than be single, and choose again.

There is no cookie cutter mould for the ‘perfect’ relationship, as we’re all different, and each and every one of us has different ideas about what the ‘deal’ is when it comes to a relationship. Our expectations, understandings, and the type of ‘arrangement’ that we’d like to make with that other person we choose to be with is very individual. However there are common elements that when put in to practice, can truly invite and create happy relationships, irrespective of what the ‘deal’ is.  Continue reading

Happy New Year

Whilst down at the beach this morning with my adorable husband … the sun kissing my back, swimming in the surf, and breathing in the beauty of Byron Bay beach and surrounding hinterland, I am completely filled with gratitude.

I believe that heaven really is here on earth if we wish to choose to create it. Every day that I make the intention to be present as I walk on the beach observing the clouds, the mountains, the seagulls, the ocean and the way the waves crash upon the sand; or when I look out our living room window at the birds, butterflies, flowers, plants and dragons all doing their thing in the garden, I am simply in awe at just how beautiful this planet is. It washes away all my worries and concerns about the news ‘stories’ that are designed to fuel our fear. And every time I breathe in the beauty of nature, I am gifted with even more unexpected surprises, whether it be a pod of dolphins swimming by, or a coloured flower that I hadn’t seen before, or a cloud formation that all fill me with happiness, joy and beauty.

Creating my life exactly how I like it is something that I absolutely love to play with. Continue reading

Practice the Art of Equanimity and Be Present and Grateful for What Exists Right Now

About 10 years ago I sat my first Vipassana meditation – 10 days of silence – no reading, no writing, no talking, no eye contact with anyone. Simply wake up and meditate for 10 to 12 hours a day with breaks for breakfast and lunch and a cup of tea for dinner. It was most certainly a life changing experience of which I am forever grateful so much so that I went back again and again. Continue reading
