Ripples of Change

2014-06-12 07.18.31

As Be genki approaches its 10th birthday, I’m on one hand extremely excited and grateful to still be doing what I love to do – providing you with the inspiration and possibility for more energy, less stress, a better relationship with yourself and loved ones, and the possibility of a good night’s sleep.

On the other hand we’re taking the time to look at the way we do what we do, and to question if there is a better way we can help Be genki touch the hearts and lives of those who are seeking more holistic health, happiness and wellbeing.

Why? because every time I receive a letter from one of our customers about how a Be genki product has changed their life, a little tear of joy wells up inside my eyes.

The most recent one was as follows:

Thank you so much for my last sample. I have been massaging the Be Genki Serene body oil into my 2 year old and for the first time in many many months she is sleeping through the night. It is a relief to find a product and blend of oils that has helped with Georgie’s restlessness at night and my own anxiety surrounding it.  – Melanie Continue reading

A Birthday Wish

day00-intro-2

It’s no secret that I love to travel. But whilst I jump for joy at the short visits to exotic destinations that take my breath away, what I love more so is immersing myself in a different culture, questioning, wondering and exploring so that I can see things from other people’s perspectives. So that I can fully appreciate the sounds, the tastes, the smells, the feelings, the culture of that country. Wondering why certain cultural norms exist. Wondering what these people love to cook, eat, do, feel, love and think about. My desire to learn, grow and become more flexible is unquenchable.

And so begins my love affair with Spain. Continue reading

Happy New Year

byron

Whilst down at the beach this morning with my adorable husband … the sun kissing my back, swimming in the surf, and breathing in the beauty of Byron Bay beach and surrounding hinterland, I am completely filled with gratitude.

I believe that heaven really is here on earth if we wish to choose to create it. Every day that I make the intention to be present as I walk on the beach observing the clouds, the mountains, the seagulls, the ocean and the way the waves crash upon the sand; or when I look out our living room window at the birds, butterflies, flowers, plants and dragons all doing their thing in the garden, I am simply in awe at just how beautiful this planet is. It washes away all my worries and concerns about the news ‘stories’ that are designed to fuel our fear. And every time I breathe in the beauty of nature, I am gifted with even more unexpected surprises, whether it be a pod of dolphins swimming by, or a coloured flower that I hadn’t seen before, or a cloud formation that all fill me with happiness, joy and beauty.

Creating my life exactly how I like it is something that I absolutely love to play with. Continue reading

No matter where I am in the world, September / October is my favourite time of year. It is simply beautiful no matter where we are. The sun shining. The skies blue. A breeze in the air. Not too hot. Not too chilly. So, as you can imagine, the Be genki ritual for October is all about getting outdoors to move your body and be with the beautiful surrounds of nature.  Continue reading

Integrate Something New in to Your Daily Life to Help Bring About a More Naturally Beautiful You

benaturallyou2 Whether you’re
new to receiving
Be Genki rituals, or have been reading and following them for years I’d love to express my deepest gratitude for your support and for simply taking a moment in time to stop whatever it is that you’re doing to read the latest post.

After a lovely holiday over the Christmas break, I’ve decided to hang up my Be Genki blog boots for 12 months to focus on Be Naturallyou – my latest project and that which is particularly close to my heart. Terribly sorry if you’ve grown to love the Be Genki blog but there’s only so much a girl can do / fit in to one day; and I am sure that you will love Be Naturallyou. Continue reading

December Ritual: Create a Space of Relaxation, Serenity and Love this December, by Making it a Priority to be Kind and Thoughtful to Your Self

womanbeachWhilst the holiday season is something that most of us look forward to, jumping with joy, it can also become a little stressful, frustrating and exhausting.

With the risk of sounding a little like the Scroodge, please be sensible. It’s not called the silly season for no reason. Partying, drinking, indulging, overeating and running around like a headless chicken from event-to-event and shop-to-shop, trying to please everyone but yourself, it’s no wonder many of us feel tired, rundown, overweight and stressed as the new year rolls around. Make the Commitment to Exercise, to Help Reduce Stress and Improve the Healthy Glow of your Complexion

I don’t know about you, but I really start to feel it if I don’t exercise for a few weeks: I become more lazy and sleep in that little bit longer, I become brilliant at conjuring up reasons why I deserve my sleep ins, my mood drops, I lack inspiration and no longer have that spring in my step or vibrant energy that I love so much. It scares the pants off me!

So as not to fall in to that trap again I have made a commitment of 5 times a week to just do it. Whether it’s a yoga class, yoga in my lounge room or hotel room, workout at the gym, walk in the countryside or dance session, it’s got to be something active. Continue reading

Inspired by Flowers

Have you ever stopped for a moment to get completely swept away by the beauty and vibrance of colour that flowers gift to the world? Quite something really!

It’s a little thing that I’ve been particularly captivated by lately, to just stop, pause and gaze for a few moments. Perhaps it’s because I just happen to be in the oh so lovely English countryside at present, with all the flowers blooming, or maybe it’s the little family of bees that greet me each morning and afternoon when I get home as they buzz around the flower bed at the front door, or perhaps it’s just nature’s way of gifting something truly beautiful to the day, or maybe it’s my deep dive in to Aura-Soma which has helped to open my eyes to the world of colour? All of the above I’d say, and more. Continue reading

The Importance of Balance

Sometimes when we get dis-ease in the body, it has nothing to do with “catching a virus” or “catching a bug” or pulling a muscle, but more so to do with some other underlying emotional issue or unresolved issue from the past; and sometimes we create the dis-ease, pain or discomfort ourselves on the subconscious level, and other times something different altogether, beyond our rational thinking mind. Be Genki Loves Treehenge

One of the initiatives that I love to do with Be Genki is to support environmental sustainability campaigns that work towards a better, brighter and cleaner future for the world we live in. So, we make a promise to donate 5% of profits each year to ensure that every Be Genki purchase also gives back to the planet.

Recently I came across a FABULOUS initiative that caught my attention and that we will be donating to from 2012 onwards, called … [ drum roll ] … Treehenge.

Meet My New Friend

So it seems I have a new friend. Not sure what he’s called yet (I’m open to any suggestions) … but nevertheless he’s been adding a little extra happiness to my days.

It all started about a month or two ago on Shire Farm – the Aura-Soma biodynamic farm – in Lincolnshire, when little lambs were popping out left, right and centre. It was so so cute to see tens of little ones jumping about the place. But one of them I took a particular love for … as he had one extra long “white sock” on his back leg. Continue reading
