A good night’s sleep is essential for a happy and healthy body and mind.

Have you ever noticed that if you don’t get enough sleep you tend to be a little more cranky? and your complexion suffers? Tired eyes! Sallow skin! This is not what life is all about! and the very reason why I designed Be genki Tranquil – a range of products that are designed to be used in the evening when you’re unwinding from the day and preparing yourself for bedtime. Utilising the properties of pure organic essential oils: Lavender, Sweet Orange, Roman Chamomile and Sandalwood, all renowned for their calming, sleep-inducing properties. If you do suffer from an inability to ease in to a tranquil sleep, or if you find it challenging to relax after a busy day, I would love to suggest you try the following bedtime ritual. By layering Be genki products you get the benefits of sleep-inducing essential oils and herbs intensified. Add to that the other suggestions, mentioned below, and you’ll be drifting off to dream land in no time. With love and genki x Sam

Be genki ritual for a tranquil night’s sleep

Create a space and time just for you. Turn your phone to silent mode, and take a moment to transfom your personal abode to a sanctuary that is sacrosanct for your sanity.

Light your Be genki Tranquil candle { 1 } in the bedroom to prepare your room with the scent of sleep inducing herbs and plant esssences.

Fill the bath with warm water. Add 6 – 8 drops of Be genki Tranquil oil blend { 2 }. Slowly slip in and gently lay back. Close your eyes, and take 5 – 15 minutes to focus on your breathing. With every inhale breathe in the natural plant scents. With every exhale breathe out your worries and any stress.

[Alternatively, whilst in the shower, add 6 – 8 drops of Be genki Tranquil oil blend { 2 } to the corner of your shower floor. Step in and take a 5 minute warrm shower. Allow the steam to infuse the essential oils within your shower environment. Close your eyes and take a moment to focus on your breathing. Take 3 deep breaths. With every inhale breathe in the natural plant scents. With every exhale breathe out your worries and any stress.]

Once out of the shower or bath, massage your skin with Be genki Tranquil body oil { 3 }, containing pure plant oils that nourish and soften your skin. Take this opportunity to practice positive self-talk, gifting a little self-acceptance and gratitude to your body. Thanking it for all it is and all that it has the potential to be. Start at the feet and work your way up your legs, buttocks and tummy with gentle massage motions that stimulate circulation. Finish with gentle kneading of your arms.

Close your eyes, and spritz a little Be genki Tranquil face mist { 4 } over your face and décolletage. For our favourite selection of super ‘food’ oils to help regenerate your skin whilst you sleep visit this page.

Retreat to a quiet and comfortable space, curl up under a warm blanket { 5 } and enjoy a cup of sleep-inducing Be genki Tranquil herbal tea { 6 } a blend of herbs that are beneficial for easing insomnia, nervous tension, headaches and anxiety. Add a teaspoon of the loose organic tea leaves to your infuser and let it remain for 5 to 10 minutes in freshly boiled water. Ideally wait until the water has cooled a little before adding to the teapot as boiling water can potentially damage the beneficial properties that your herbal tea contains. Also aim to use good quality drinking water as opposed to tap water. Remember to remove the infuser after 5 to 10 minutes.

Whilst enjoying your Be genki Tranquil herbal tea, take this moment to read a chapter of a good book { 7 } and nibble on a handful of pumpkin seeds { 8 }. My favourite book, at the moment, is Being You, Changing the World by Dain Heer – a book for generating infinite possibilities and dynamic changes.

Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of zinc, magnesium, manganese and tryptophan, as well as a good source of many other minerals such as iron and copper. Tryptophan is converted into serotonin – nature’s sleeping pill, so a handful of these seeds at dinner time make for a good night’s sleep. Pumpkin seeds are also a good source of vitamin E, an excellent antioxidant and a good quality protein. The perfect pre-bedtime nibble to help promote a peaceful night’s sleep + the added benefit of skin healing properties.

Be happy. Be healthy. Be sleepy. Be genki.
