In today’s world, it seems that we are bombarded with brands making bold claims to be “this” or “that” and nowhere else is this more apparent than the beauty industry.
When we read the label of a product and it claims to be natural, organic and/or made with love, how do we really know if that’s true or not?
I’m the first person to put my hand up and say that I have been guilty of buying something purely because I loved the packaging, but over the years I have gained more knowledge, awareness and understanding that everything I put on and in my body will have an effect on my health and happiness. So, I am now committed to doing my research and supporting brands with integrity that are genuinely ethical and caring.
Active Energised Organic Skincare (AEOS) is one of those rare brands that upon appearance looks like a beautiful luxurious organic skincare range, but when you dig deeper it just keeps getting better.
When I first read the packaging of my AEOS favorites I noticed that it states “made with love and intention”. I loved the concept and was instantly hooked by the romantic notion that as I applied my daily moisturizer I was also apply a little infusion of love. But after witnessing first-hand the harvesting of crops at Shire Farm, where many of the plants and herbs are grown for use in AEOS products, I now have a deeper understanding of just exactly what that “made with love and intention” means.
My latest visit to Shire Farm coincided with the harvesting of spelt. (One of the star ingredients included in all AEOS products is biodynamic spelt oil, extracted from spelt grown on their own Demeter certified biodynamic farm.) Having a love for escaping to the countryside and a tendency to sit and gaze at the daily happenings of “life on a farm” I have seen numerous crop harvests. It is common practice for the driver of a combine (the massive machine that harvests grain crops) to harvest a field quickly, guiding the combine up and down the fields in a time efficient manner. After all, isn’t it a general thought in today’s world that “time is money”. However, what I saw the other day on Shire Farm was something truly unique and so beautiful that it was almost hypnotic to watch. The manner in which George guided the combine to delicately caress the crops at a gentle, deliberate and gradual pace so as not to cause stress to the crops was genuine love at play, and just one example of how Active Energised Organic Skincare is made with love and intention, throughout every little step of the production, from soil to soul.
A note on spelt oil:
Spelt is an ancient cousin of modern wheat and is bursting with vitamins and proteins. Due to the way in which the plant is grown, spelt as an ingredient is very ‘available’ to the skin for optimal absorption. It is rich in natural Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and is known for its intensively moisturizing, antioxidant and regenerative properties.
