Nourish, Smooth and Brighten Your Hands, Feet and Nails

Whether you’re freezing your tail off in the Southern Hemisphere or basking in the first days of summer up north, June is the perfect time to revisit your hand, feet and nail-care regime. I’ll be hopping back and forth between Australia and the UK this month, so have put together a lovely little ritual to ensure that my wintery grey days are infused with cheering brightness to elevate my mood; and so that when it comes time to expose my tootsies in sandals they’re looking oh so fabulous and colourful. I’d love to share the ritual with you, and invite you to join me.

Step 1: Ensure hands and feet are kept well hydrated with a nourishing and rich hand cream.
Personally, I’m a little biased towards Be Genki and am particularly loving the Vitality Hand Cream packed with Shea, Cocoa and Mango Butter, Jojoba, Rosehip and Evening Primrose Oils, and scented with invigorating essential oils of Lemon, Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Rosemary. I keep a little jar by my bed and massage a little in to my hands and feet in the evening before jumping in to bed to read. PURCHASE BE GENKI HAND CREAM

Step 2: Keep nails looking smooth and flawless with a Crystal Glass Nail File.
Metal files and emery boards tear the nail as they file, leaving rough, sharp edges. The crystal file is gentle and impressively effective, gliding across the nail tip as you file so you can shape your nail to a flawless, smooth finish. In addition, crystal files seal the nail tip as you file, preventing water, dirt and debris from seeping in to the nail tip (this being one of the reasons that nails chip, crack and peel). So, after you use your crystal file for a month, you’ll notice a considerable improvement in how much better your nails are.  Another plus – crystal files don’t dull, meaning they last for years and years!  PURCHASE CRYSTAL NAIL FILE

Step 3: Add a splash of colour to your life and paint your nails.
Personally I feel bland and boring without painted toes. My view is … nails look so much more fun when they’re painted. It also puts a smile on my face when I look down at my tootsies and see sparkling colour shining up at me. A sure way to brighten up any day. However, not all nail lacquers are created equal. In fact, many nail lacquers contain harsh chemicals that dry and damage the nail, as well as being highly toxic to inhale. Common toxic chemicals found in nail lacquers are toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalates (DBP) – known carcinogens, allergens and irritants. Luckily Aura-Soma have come to the rescue with a beautiful range of AEOS Vegan Nail Lacquers (free from toxic chemicals) that are moisturizing to help rebuild natural nail strength, for longer stronger nails. Oh… and they are available in the most fabulously fun jewel colours. PURCHASE VEGAN NAIL LACQUER

Best wishes for happy and healthy hands, feet and nails.
