Holiday Nurturing

I love the holiday season!

For most people it means they can take a few weeks off from work, which is exactly what I look forward to. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with family and friends but also the perfect chance to have a change in scenery. I enjoy traveling and exploring a part of the world that I have never been to or to return to somewhere special.

I often dream about exploring new places, getting out and about in the world to see and experience different landscapes, cultures and activities, and make a conscious effort to convert those dreams into reality. Exploring and having new experiences almost always provides the opportunity for me to explore a different part of my self and grow that little bit more.

Doing the same thing day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year can get awfully stifling. It’s not good for your creativity, your inspiration or your “joie de vivre”.

A change in scenery every once in a while does the world of good by opening your eyes to different people and places and is a reminder that life is about living and experiencing and enjoying.

Recently I have been hooked on a fabulous website called Explorer Girls. It encourages women to explore an active and adventurous life and connect with likeminded women around the world, while inspiring others by sharing their travel and life experiences.

It’s a great inspirational tool, and not just for the forums, live chat and photo album applications. There’s an online magazine that features articles on exploring beauty, health and fitness, as well as books and music for the soul, to mention just a little of what the site offers.

When was the last time you nurtured your soul by engaging in a little exploration?
