Earth Month: Support Those That Care

With April being Earth month, what better time to choose to support those that care.

Never before has there been so many different brands on the market with a multitude of promises on the external packaging and by spokespeople who naively don’t know any better. Words such as ‘natural’, ‘organic’ and ‘ethical’ have been used and abused. So much so that we are now confronted with more confusion than ever.

How do we know what is truly natural? How can we be sure that the organic product we choose is genuinely organic, as opposed to a small fraction being organic with the remainder containing pesticide residue? What does ethically produced really mean? Continue reading

Japanese Beauty Secrets

Blue skies and cherry blossom in Tokyo … sometimes all you can do is “look up”.

Maybe I’m delusional, maybe I was given a few extra shots of wishful thinking, or maybe I just hope that my ‘rabbit hole thoughts’ can’t possibly be true … but as long as I’m here I’ll continue to look up and seek for, ask and implement different possibilities so that the beautiful planet that we live upon can one day be restored to exactly that, and free from the insanities that pollute the earth, oceans and air we breathe.

Travelling as much as I do it never fails to shock me when observing the state of the world. Tokyo is no exception. Whilst it is seductive to write about the devastation of the reality that is right in front of me, as I sit here feeling the tension of the Earth in the joints of my knees, I would like to suggest something different … to make conscious choices in our daily actions and look for the beauty in all moments. Be genki Ritual

Become aware of your self-talk and introduce stress-relieving, self-nurturing, and beautifying rituals to help promote happiness, beauty and wellbeing.

This month, when going about your day-to-day tasks, can I please request that you do so without judgment?

So often we do things on ‘auto-pilot’ and without conscious intent. Or we do so with a sprinkle of not-so-nice self-talk. For the next few weeks please become aware of the reality and frequency of the way in which you judge yourself. Not so that you can judge yourself for judging yourself. But more so, for the purpose of becoming aware, so that you can turn those thoughts 180 degrees, to create new habits that serve you better, helping to create a happier, healthier and more beautiful you. Because we all know that the most irresistible beauty is a happy smile.

If you would like a little helping hand, we’ve created three different Be genki boxes for morning, daytime and evening. Combining products that work in harmony together so as to bring about a little more stress-relief, beauty-care and happiness to your day. Continue reading

A Birthday Wish

It’s no secret that I love to travel. But whilst I jump for joy at the short visits to exotic destinations that take my breath away, what I love more so is immersing myself in a different culture, questioning, wondering and exploring so that I can see things from other people’s perspectives. So that I can fully appreciate the sounds, the tastes, the smells, the feelings, the culture of that country. Wondering why certain cultural norms exist. Wondering what these people love to cook, eat, do, feel, love and think about. My desire to learn, grow and become more flexible is unquenchable.

And so begins my love affair with Spain. Continue reading

How to Create Happy, Healthy, and Intimate Relationships

2014-05-01 19.00.32
Whilst I’m certainly far from perfect, and can’t claim to be an expert on relationships, I’ve had my fair share of them and talked to enough people to reach my own point-of-view about what it takes to maintain a healthy and happy relationship.

It has always baffled me, however, the number of relationships that I see that are abusive, disrespectful and disempowering. It seems that more often than not, people would prefer to stay in a not-so-good relationship, than be single, and choose again.

There is no cookie cutter mould for the ‘perfect’ relationship, as we’re all different, and each and every one of us has different ideas about what the ‘deal’ is when it comes to a relationship. Our expectations, understandings, and the type of ‘arrangement’ that we’d like to make with that other person we choose to be with is very individual. However there are common elements that when put in to practice, can truly invite and create happy relationships, irrespective of what the ‘deal’ is.  Continue reading

Happy New Year

Whilst down at the beach this morning with my adorable husband … the sun kissing my back, swimming in the surf, and breathing in the beauty of Byron Bay beach and surrounding hinterland, I am completely filled with gratitude.

I believe that heaven really is here on earth if we wish to choose to create it. Every day that I make the intention to be present as I walk on the beach observing the clouds, the mountains, the seagulls, the ocean and the way the waves crash upon the sand; or when I look out our living room window at the birds, butterflies, flowers, plants and dragons all doing their thing in the garden, I am simply in awe at just how beautiful this planet is. It washes away all my worries and concerns about the news ‘stories’ that are designed to fuel our fear. And every time I breathe in the beauty of nature, I am gifted with even more unexpected surprises, whether it be a pod of dolphins swimming by, or a coloured flower that I hadn’t seen before, or a cloud formation that all fill me with happiness, joy and beauty.

Creating my life exactly how I like it is something that I absolutely love to play with. Continue reading

Question Everything

“Everybody realises the issues. Nobody actually acts. There is no time to be silent. There is no time to excuse. The time is now. Let’s start. The future is in our hands. And to make it better we must first change ourselves. Shed all the hatred, all the envy, all of the sadness. Be kind. Smile. and forgive. Continue reading

October Ritual: Become Consciously Aware of all that Goes in Your Mouth and on Your Skin

October is Vegetarian Awareness Month, a wonderful initiative to help inspire us to think about what goes in our mouth and how our choices can impact the world in which we share. We can all stick our head in the sand, if we so choose, and ignore the reality of what goes on in the world. Or we can do something about it. We live on this planet and have the power to vote every day with the choices we make at the supermarket/deli/grocery and department store. Every time you buy a product you are saying to that company, ‘keep on doing what you are doing.’ You are supporting everything that company does: every source of raw material, every packaging solution, every environmental standard that they are undertaking, every form of employee relations, every marketing choice. The Importance of Balance

Sometimes when we get dis-ease in the body, it has nothing to do with “catching a virus” or “catching a bug” or pulling a muscle, but more so to do with some other underlying emotional issue or unresolved issue from the past; and sometimes we create the dis-ease, pain or discomfort ourselves on the subconscious level, and other times something different altogether, beyond our rational thinking mind.
