new to receiving
Be Genki rituals, or have been reading and following them for years I’d love to express my deepest gratitude for your support and for simply taking a moment in time to stop whatever it is that you’re doing to read the latest post.
After a lovely holiday over the Christmas break, I’ve decided to hang up my Be Genki blog boots for 12 months to focus on Be Naturallyou – my latest project and that which is particularly close to my heart. Terribly sorry if you’ve grown to love the Be Genki blog but there’s only so much a girl can do / fit in to one day; and I am sure that you will love Be Naturallyou. After years of study, research and working in the health and beauty industry I have been inspired to share my knowledge and experience via this new website in the hope that it will help inspire a more naturally beautiful you.
In a world with so much conflicting information, advertising everywhere we turn, and a large number of brands concerned more with profit return than the long-term health of their customers, it’s no surprise that we’re a little misled and confused about what beauty products to use, what foods to consume, and how best to improve our natural beauty.
One area you may find particularly interesting is the Brand Directory page that has brands added each week. I have been so impressed over the years by a number of FAB beauty brands and desired to create a central location to share with beauty conscious women who are seeking natural and organic skin care. I spend my life researching this stuff, but the average person does not have the time to do this, so I’ve essentially done a lot of the ground work for you to log on to the website and then choose a brand that suits you. There are a considerable number of ethical brands out there who are doing their part to contribute to the health and beauty of their customers and planet that we share. It’s up to us to choose them.
It has been an absolute joy to create this website and share the information that I gather whether that be inspiring interviews, or a healthy vegan recipe that I create, or a dreamy spa review that the lovely Kris Abbey from Spa Life magazine contributes, or another beautiful beauty brand. It’s a tool that has also inspired me to take a closer look at my lifestyle to make small changes to help improve my own natural health and beauty.
So I encourage you to log on to be naturallyou and integrate something new in to your daily life to help bring about a more naturally beautiful you, whether it be lifestyle, nutrition or skin care related.
Oh… another little gem worth sharing… by subscribing to the be naturallyou monthly update you’re automatically entered to win our much loved monthly giveaways.
Best wishes for a more naturally beautiful you.
Whilst the holiday season is something that most of us look forward to, jumping with joy, it can also become a little stressful, frustrating and exhausting.
With the risk of sounding a little like the Scroodge, please be sensible. It’s not called the silly season for no reason. Partying, drinking, indulging, overeating and running around like a headless chicken from event-to-event and shop-to-shop, trying to please everyone but yourself, it’s no wonder many of us feel tired, rundown, overweight and stressed as the new year rolls around. I don’t know about you, but I really start to feel it if I don’t exercise for a few weeks: I become more lazy and sleep in that little bit longer, I become brilliant at conjuring up reasons why I deserve my sleep ins, my mood drops, I lack inspiration and no longer have that spring in my step or vibrant energy that I love so much. It scares the pants off me!
So as not to fall in to that trap again I have made a commitment of 5 times a week to just do it. Whether it’s a yoga class, yoga in my lounge room or hotel room, workout at the gym, walk in the countryside or dance session, it’s got to be something active. Continue reading →
One of the first things I do every morning is dry skin brushing. It’s a wonderful body treatment for exfoliating and promoting beautiful soft skin, and is really worth the extra couple of minutes it takes each morning. If you don’t already practice this daily ritual, give it a go for the next 30 days and judge for yourself just how much softer your skin feels. Continue reading →
Sometimes when we get dis-ease in the body, it has nothing to do with “catching a virus” or “catching a bug” or pulling a muscle, but more so to do with some other underlying emotional issue or unresolved issue from the past; and sometimes we create the dis-ease, pain or discomfort ourselves on the subconscious level, and other times something different altogether, beyond our rational thinking mind. Whether you’re freezing your tail off in the Southern Hemisphere or basking in the first days of summer up north, July is the perfect time to revisit your nail-care regime to ensure that your wintery grey days are infused with cheering brightness to elevate your mood; and so that when it comes time to expose your tootsies in sandals they’re looking oh so fabulous and colorful. What if you spent the month of April making a conscious effort to reduce your footprint on the planet?
We all have to make decisions each and every day about how we choose to live our life and the products we choose to purchase. There are many alternatives that we can start to integrate in to our lives to help make the planet a cleaner, healthier and more enjoyable place to live. Continue reading →
I have a not-so-new love that I am forever singing its praises at is has been energizing and relaxing me for the past two years: the self-healing acupressure pranamat. On days when I wake up without a spring in my step, I lay on it for twenty minutes and my energy levels are restored. When I’m in a frustrated or stressed mood I lay on it for thirty to forty minutes with my eyes closed, and am surprisingly a lot calmer and level-headed once I get up. And on nights when I have a million and one thoughts racing around my head, instead of going to bed to stare at the ceiling, I lay on the pranamat for forty minutes. Afterwards it feels like I have had a tranquilizer and am ready for sleep. This magic little friend of mine is also the ONLY thing that I have found to help relieve PMS – particularly the dull aching lower back pain. Continue reading →
Ahhh Valentine’s Day. Whether or not you revel in the love letters, bouquets of flowers and boxes of chocolate or ‘bah humbug’ your way through the “Hallmark Event”, I can’t help but think that it’s a nice little reminder for all of us to nurture the love in our relationships.
We all have relationships. Whether they are with our family, friends or lovers, they are all sacred friendships that require a certain amount of energy so that they remain positive. One relationship that we often forget about is the relationship we have with ourself. This is the most important of them all, and the one from which all other relationships stem from. It you don’t love yourself, how can you truly love someone else? Continue reading →
Take a listen to the lovely Bianca Dye talking about and testing the acupressure pranamat live on air on her radio show i98FM.
Bianca is in to yoga and meditation and just happens to love us. Here’s a snippet of my favourite bit: “I love all this self help stuff … and there’s this company called Be Genki who I’m absolutely in love with at the moment. They do all sorts of beautiful stuff, teas, and face products … and I saw this online and I thought I have to get one … it’s called the new self-healing pranamat, helps to relax and revitalize your body and mind. It’s meant to help with depression, headaches, muscle tone.”
Thank you Bianca xx you rock!!! xx
Thank you for all your support throughout 2011. As always, I am truly grateful for your continued belief in Be Genki. Such a joy to be doing what I love to be doing, with continued love and encouragement from you.
I once heard a phrase that I like to remind myself of often:
those who believe in magic, are those who get to experience it.
Wishing you a wonderfully happy and healthy holidays with the new year bringing with it an abundance of love and magic. xSam
