Very interesting interview with Mike Booth, Chairman of Aura-Soma, the company that manufactures the wonderful AEOS (Active Energised Organic Skincare) and Pegasus Perfume products.
extracts from the interview: “The Cosmetic industry is going towards, beauty comes from the inside, not what you put on the skin. So that’s where I think we can really help, because we’ve been working for nearly 30 years on what is on the inside and the inner beauty. To use the resources that we have – the crystals, the gems, the herbs and the plants, the energies of Aura-Soma in a cosmetic products is like, we’re given an opportunity to go in to the mainstream with something that can be really supportive of people and getting in touch with the inner beauty and helping them to experience what these subtle energies are really all about. And besides that, it’s not like standard cosmetics where you’re putting chemicals on your skin to do something which is maybe not going to be so great for the liver or the kidneys or the repercussions from what we put on our skin if it isn’t in harmony with the whole being. What we have in AEOS is really the opportunity to work with plant materials that we grow in the same way as the herbs in Aura-Soma. The spelt oil that we grow, we extract through cold processes so that it retains its active properties; grown biodynamically with the Aura-Soma philosophy of really connecting with the energies above, and the devic energies, the microorganisms in the soil; bringing all that together to build the immunity in the plant, that then those oils that we use in the cosmetics when they are applied to the skin is really something that is already very familiar because those ancient grains, like spelt, are not things that have been genetically modified. Spelt is something that for thousands of years human beings have been working with, so to use spelt oil on the skin, the body knows what to do with it. Within the genetic pathways, within the ancestral roots, spelt and the oils of those ancient grains have been part of our history, so its very easily absorbed. Nearly every product within the AEOS range contains that spelt oil.
“As far as I could see in the world of perfume, there was not much natural. In other words, most of the perfumes that are produced have been produced from hydrocarbons, coal tars and so on. Most of the perfumes have some sort of synthetic basis to them. I think there is a whole spectrum of people, in the world now, that really want something more natural. To know that what they’re putting on themselves, whether it’s a cosmetic or a perfume, has a basis that is not synthetised. It’s not something that is unfamiliar to the whole of the harmony of the body, mind and spirit. So we created the Pegasus over a period of 14 years in development We worked with one of the top perfumers in the world as far as I’m concerned. Anastasia is somebody who really looks at colour and the notes of plant materials and really works with those things. It’s an ancient art.
